2 hours until start...

I remember this day like it was yesterday. It was 2 hours before Bilal was supposed to get on one knee and pop the question to Ashley. Apparently, I was being a bit of a perfectionist this day because who shows up 2 hours early? (This guy, that's who). As I arrive at the two-story Miami Airbnb, I'm greeted with rain as I gather all my photography and lighting equipment out of my 2008 Mazda CX-7. Funny thing is, it was clear skies all day. So why now?!

That's South Florida weather for you though. I guess it loves to keep its beloved residents guessing. However, I felt something in my gut that this evening was going to be a good one.

I walk inside and head straight into the living room or anywhere that I could place my equipment that wasn't in anyone's way. To my right, I see a young man that kinda resembles my older brother sitting down on the living room couch. It's Bilal. Laying in his arms is a beautiful baby girl sleeping. We see each other and he wastes no time to carefully maneuver over to me without bothering his daughter. As we greet each other for the first time, I notice that his demeanor is very calm. If you add a man who's about to ask the biggest question of his life with the fact that it's now raining on the very spot where the event is supposed to occur you'd think emotions would be high. Not this guy. It was all peace and smiles.

1 Hour until start...

It's still raining... Only now, the rain is starting to slow to a slight drizzle. Everyone is optimistic about the rain stopping as guests start to arrive. One thing I've learned about shooting surprise proposals is that the hour before the proposal flies by quicker than Usain Bolt. Even though positive vibes are in the air, I can't help but think, "what do we do if the rain doesn't let up?"

Moments until start...

In typical Godly fashion, less than 15 minutes before Ashley arrives and the rain just completely stops. It was like watching a movie in real-time. And then this happened.

You know they say it's good luck when it rains on your wedding day. Well it must be good blessings if it rains on the evening of your surprise proposal because this night was nothing but God. S/o to all the key players who made this day special.
